Anita Ekberg

 

Kerstin Marianne Ekberg (Swedish pronunciation (listen), 29 September 1931 - 11 January 2015) was an Swedish actress, most well-known for her stunning body and stunning beauty. Her role as Sylvia in Federico Fellini's film La Dolce Vita (1960) was a major hit. Ekberg was born in Sweden on the 29th of September 1931. She was the sixth child of eight. Anita was a fashion model during her teens. In response to the wishes by her mother, Ekberg was a contestant in Miss Malmo in 1950. She was crowned the Miss Sweden contest. Despite speaking little English Ekberg travelled to the United States to compete for the Miss Universe 1951 title. It was an official pageant in the year 1951. The pageant was officially made officially recognized in 1952. Ekberg did not win the title of Miss Universe winner, but she was among six finalist. However, she did earn an agreement with Universal Studios as a starlet. She was an Universal starlet, and was given lessons in dramatization, elocution dance and horseback riding, fencing, and elocution. She appeared briefly in The Mississippi Gambler (1953), Abbott and Costello go to Mars (1953), Take Me to Town (1953) as well as The Golden Blade (53).
