Rashida Jones

Rashida Jones was born Los Angeles, California to Quincy Jones, a media producer and mogul, as well as Peggy Lipton, Rashida is the younger sister of actress Peggy Lipton and Quincy Jones. She has an older sister, Kidada Jones, and five half-siblings inherited from the other relationships her father has with his children. Her father is African American and her mother Ashkenazi Jewish (a descendant emigrants of Russia and Latvia). Rashida was born into Reform Judaism. She grew up in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California. Jones stated that Jones had mixed race parents who were unacceptable to her in the 1970s. Jones began her professional acting career was on The Last Don (1997) which was a mini-series based on Mario Puzo's novel. Rashida completed her studies at Harvard University in 1997. The school she attended was the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, California. Awarded Most Likely To Succeed. The name she uses is Arabic (O+-O'UO-O(c)) for "Major adult, mature older or wise". She was a singer in a Tupac Shakur tribute song, composed by Kidada Jones who is her sister. Rashida and Kidada's brother Quincy Jones III produced the track, while their father, Quincy Jones, made an appearance , reciting the lyrics of the poem by Shakur "Starry Night" in the intro. Shakur's poem is the source for the song's name. Rashida is African-American and has little English, Scottish, or Welsh ancestral ancestry than his mother (some of his African relatives are from the Tikar tribe from Cameroon). Her mother, Rashida, is Ashkenazi Jewish (of Russian Jewish and Latvian Jewish descent). Her paternal grandparents, who came of South Carolina, and Mississippi as the paternal grandparents of her father. Her maternal grandfather was born to New Yorkers while her maternal grandmother was of Eastern European Jewish heritage. She has been playing three characters called "Karen" from 2009 to present on the TV show that is a cult comedy show Freaks and Geeks (1999), Stella (2006), and The Office (2005).
