Summer Bishil Bio

   Summer Bishil was a Pasadena, California native. She and her family moved out of the country when she was three. Summer was a student at American and British schools in the midst of her family living abroad. She returned to Pasadena in the days before her birthday, which was on 14th September. Summer was just five years old when she was captivated by acting and enrolled in her first acting class. Nine months after that, she signed with an agent/manager and embarked on a full-time profession. When she isn't working, she goes to college and is working towards her degree. She was named one of the "Ten Actors To Watch" by Variety (2007). Nominated for Best Actress – Spirit Award. At age 14 years old, Bishil began acting lessons. Within one year, she was given a contract by an agent and a manager. Bishil started her career as a character on the Nickelodeon TV show Just for Kicks. After that she was offered a contract with a manager and an agency. Her first big break was in Alan Ball's 2007 film Towelhead. It's an adaptation of the novel of the same name. Dana Stevens, a Slate critic, wrote that "Her performance in a movie which, for all its good intentions seems completely fake, mildly embarrassing, and like an extended PSA regarding inappropriate touching is the truthful thing." Bob Strauss, a Los Angeles journalist for a newspaper, said that Bishil "...is one of the top natural actresses on film in recent times. In a September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil, a "...newcomer who is a newcomer, delivers an impressive and sassy performance in the role of Jasira. "In 2009, she shot Wayne Kramer's project, Crossing Over, starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd, a portrayal that received some favorable notice from the Associated Press's Jay Reiner. The film was a success and she was cast as Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 film The Last Airbender. This was supposed to be the main theme of the planned but never produced sequel.
